Feed Your Growing Family!™ Program
Nutrition for Mom and Baby- The First Year
Your little one has arrived! With all of the excitement and new memories being made, you may also be trying to navigate how to take care of yourself, your new baby, and possibly even additional family members. This 6-module program covers maternal and infant nutritional needs for the first year after birth.
Why is the first year post-natal so important?
For many parents, the birth of a child can feel like a destination. While it definitely is, it is also the start of another journey, with additional destinations and milestones ahead. During pre-conception and pregnancy, you may have focused your energy to nourish your body with healthy, fertility-supporting, and baby-growing foods, building a great tool kit to carry you forward.
If you conceived and/or carried your baby to term on the typical Standard American Diet, you have all the more reason to introduce nutrient-dense foods at this time. It is never too late to introduce positive changes into your life. Nourishing your family isn’t a race or a contest, but a life-long journey.
Why are nutrient-dense foods so important during the first year after birth? Your body has just gone through an immense change, from being pregnant for many months, to suddenly not being pregnant, and finally having a baby to care for both day and night! Your body is healing from the intensity of birth, and whatever your experience, intensity is a given. This is especially true if you’re recovering from a complicated birth and/or had a complicated pregnancy. For most new moms, building and maintaining optimal milk production is also an important goal for those wishing to breastfeed. There is a healing, readjusting, and rebalancing happening on many levels and you shouldn't have to figure it out on your own!
This 6-module program includes:
Nutritional guidelines and strategies to prevent and limit symptoms that often occur in the first year for both mom and baby
Tips to eat nutritious and healing foods
Nutritional and lifestyle recommendations designed to help you recover your strength and vitality
Recommendations to help your little one build a strong foundation for years to come
Having grace for your new body, navigating new feelings, and handling stress
Further considerations for postpartum life
Each participant will receive a workbook that will provide additional information and resources on nutrition (including nourishing postpartum recipes), recommendations to help recover after birth, and ways to support your little one during their first year of life.
How does it work?
A self-paced option as you work through the provided workbook. We will meet either in-person or via video call for a 30-minute session after the completion of each module. This will be an opportunity for us to go into more detail with each topic, along with answering any questions you may have. Babies are welcome to accompany the parent to any session.
90-minute group sessions are available where you and other moms will be guided through the six modules, with time for questions, instructor demonstrations, and group discussions. Due to Covid-19, all group classes will be held via Zoom until further notice. Babies are welcome to accompany the parents to group sessions.
